Our Story
Mabel & June | Sisters. Style. Since 1989.
It started with a bolt of cream linen and our mother's old Singer sewing machine.
Mabel had the eye — she could look at a piece of fabric and see the garment hiding inside it. June had the words — she could tell you exactly why a woman would love wearing it, and how it would make her feel walking out the door.
Together, in 1989, we opened a small studio above a flower shop on State Street in Santa Barbara. We had no investors, no plan, and no idea what we were doing. What we had was each other, thirty yards of fabric, and an unwavering belief that women deserved clothing designed for them — not at them.
We spent years traveling to find the right fabrics: soft cottons from small mills, hand-printed silks, textures that felt beautiful against skin that had actually lived in the world. We designed for the woman who had raised children, built careers, crossed oceans — and who still wanted to feel effortlessly herself every single day.
In 35 years, we never chased a trend. We never made something we wouldn't wear ourselves. And we never stopped asking the same question before every single piece went into production: Does this feel like Mabel & June?
Now, as we step gently into a quieter chapter of life, we're sharing our final curated collections with the women who have meant everything to us.
Every piece in this sale carries a piece of our story.
We hope it carries a piece of yours, too.
With love always,
Mabel & June
